A 25-foot tall replica of John Stweart Johnson II's sculpture based on Eisenstaedt's famous photograph towers over the gathering crowd in Times Square. To mark the 70th anniversary of the surrender of the Japanese ending WWII, the Times Square Alliance and "Spirit of '45," a WWII legacy organization, hosted a kiss-in with members of the public invited to imitate the sailor and nurse in Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous photograph.
