As a singular example of how both Times Square and human behavior have changed since Eisenstaedt's photograph, a couple from the V-J Day kiss-in marvel at themselves on a display billboard near the exact location of the historic shot. To mark the 70th anniversary of the surrender of the Japanese ending WWII, the Times Square Alliance and "Spirit of '45," a WWII legacy organization, hosted a kiss-in with members of the public invited to imitate the sailor and nurse in Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous photograph.
